Fort Hamilton High School Alumni Association

President’s Message Fall 2011

Fall, 2011

Dear Alumni and Friends:

Greetings! This will be my last year as the President of the Fort Hamilton High School Association. New leadership will bring a wealth of ideas and events to our association. This year, we plan to support the F.H.H.S. P.T.O.’s Doo-Wop in the fall and will plan a Spring Doo-Wop 2012 for the Alumni Association.

Many wonderful and sad things have happened in the past year. We have visited our Alma Mater and witnessed changes in the school as well as the loss of many caring and devoted alumni members. Former President of the Association, Charles Farkouh, and my husband passed away. With his lost, we will remember the love and devotion he gave to the Association. However readers, we will always remember that the “sunset at the end of the day is a reminder of the sunrise of the following day.” This is true about our Alma Mater.

In this issue, the Executive Board has announced a new type of membership which we think will help to boost our revenues so that we can return to two newsletters issues a year. In addition, with the added revenue and fundraisers, we hope to increase the number of scholarships for our graduates.

As you peruse the newsletter, please keep in mind that we need your help. Whether it is donating to the alumni, consulting with us in planning a reunion, attending the Dinner Theatre Party to see how talented our students, or finding sulting with us in planning a reunion, attending the Dinner Theatre Party to see how talented our students, or finding out that graduate Jaiquawn Jarrett of the Class of 2006 has been drafted into the National Football League and will play this fall with the Philadelphia Eagles, you will feel close to our school. These are the dreams that are realities and make it possible because of our Alumni, our School, and our Faculty. This is why we need your support. With the help of you and the Executive Board, we can make dreams come true.

Therefore, be involved, support us financially as well as morally, and visit our school. Principal Jo Ann Chester and her faculty have brought the school to the next step. Attend school events and see for yourself!

We are strong in numbers! Let’s stand tall and let the students and faculty know we are behind them! With all my love and devotion, I personally thank you for all you do for the Alumni Association.

Sincerely Yours,

President Dr. Alice B. Cury Farkouh, Class of 1957

Former Principal Fort Hamilton High School: 1989-1999
